Access via Mozilla Thunderbird

The indications provided in this section have been checked in Mozilla Thunderbird 31.4.0. They may not work with earlier or later versions of Mozilla Thunderbird.

To install Mozilla Thunderbird:

  1. Open Mozilla Thunderbird.

  2. Click on Email under the header Create a new account.

  3. Click Skip and use my existing email button.

  4. Specify your name, as you would like it to appear in any messages you send; your email address and password.

  1. Click Continue.

  2. If Thunderbird cannot find your settings automatically, click Configure Manually and enter the following information:
    Account type. If you want to make a backup of the messages on the server, select the IMAP option. Otherwise, select the POP3 option. If you select IMAP, you will also be able to set the SpamAssassin spam filter based on the received messages, whenever SpamAssassin is enabled on the server.

  1. Click on Done.

If you want to configure an email account manually, use the following combinations of connection security options and authentication methods. If the options do not work, ask your hosting provider for the correct combination.

On Linux, SMTP, IMAP, POP3:

  • SSL/TLS: STARTTLS
  • Authentication: encrypted password

On Windows, IMAP:

  • SSL/TLS: Ninguno
  • Authentication: encrypted password

On Windows, SMTP, POP3:

  • SSL/TLS: Ninguno
  • Authentication: common password

Other parameters you may need when setting up your account manually:

  • POP3 port: 110

  • IMAP Port: 143

  • SMTP Port: 25

  • User name. Your full email address. For example: johndoe@example.com.

  • Incoming server address (POP3/IMAP). Specify the Internet address of your website. Example: example.com

  • Outgoing server address. Enter the Internet address of your website. Example: example.com
